19th Century, Carved Flemish Style Double Pedestal Writing Desk
A gorgeous piece with the head of a man as the handles to the drawers and the cupboard door of the pedestal. It is believed that this is of Flemish style, but it is difficult to find and similar examples.
The top of the piece has seen better days with the leather damaged to the edges and the corners in multiple places as well as depressions to the leather in the centre. The top also has ink stains and other marks to the wood surrounding the leather. There is a couple of instances where the carvings have chipped off but the damage doesn’t detract from its impressive appearance. All damage mentioned has been photographed.
