A unique desk constructed from the horizontal stabilisers of an ex-MOD Jet Provost aircraft. Each stabiliser retains its original attached data plate, indicating manufacture in 1961 and 1962. The stabilisers are finished in polished aluminium and connected with two shelves to form a functional and visually striking desk.
The piece has genuine aircraft presence, with the rear showing the structural support points where the elevators would have attached when mounted on the original Jet Provost. Although designed to sit against a wall, it can also be positioned centrally in a room to display the engineering detail from behind. Despite its size, the aluminium construction makes it surprisingly light and easy to move.
The desk shows general bumps and marks consistent with its service life as an aircraft component, adding to its industrial character. Overall, it presents extremely well and is a truly one-off statement piece.
The desk measures approximately 130 cm wide, 95 cm deep at the base, and 150 cm high. Working height is 69 cm, with an underside clearance of 62 cm.
